Even NHL players like Clinton/Varna native Ryan O’Reilly get
frustrated after a series of losses.
O’Reilly admitted in a recent interview that it’s hard for players to
give it their all when the bounces just don’t go their way. Well – the Kinsmen Crew learned a thing or
two about playing through adversity this season when they played the entire second
half of the regular season with only one win.

The PeeWee Kinsmen LL finished a disappointing play-off run with
a 5-0 loss to the Zurich Thunder at the Memorial Arena on March 5th and
a 4-2 loss in Seaforth on March 9th.
The Zurich
game was not our best outing and the score reflected the rather chaotic
struggle for the Kinsmen Crew.

The Sailors lost a close game to the visiting Ripley Wolves at
the Maitland Rec. Centre this afternoon.
Although they lost 2-0 – the Sailors played their best play-off hockey
thus far. The Sailors were passing
better today and skated a lot harder than in previous outings. The big difference with this game was effort
level – the Kinsmen Crew did not give up today and were pressing with shots on
net and much better puck possession. The
Sailors could have beaten the Wolves if a few bounces had gone their way. This game also marked the team’s best
defensive effort in a long time. Keep
playing like this and things will start to go your way Sailors!

The Sailors were defeated 4-1 by the Ironmen at the Wingham
Arena on Thursday night. Although the
Sailors demonstrated improved team-play and worked hard at attempting passes –
the Ironmen were firing on all cylinders and dominated the game. The lone Sailors goal was scored by Captain
Adam R.
Come on Sailors – the flame is getting dim here – you guys need
to play hard and light’er up again!

Taking a break from the play-offs, the Sailors travelled to Orillia for the Canadian
Tire House League Festival on Family Day Weekend. This proved to be a worthwhile tourney as it
gave the Sailors the opportunity to break the goose egg and get a rabid monkey
off their back. The Sailors managed
their first win in five games by defeating the Almaguin Ice Devils in their
Sunday afternoon match-up.
