Atom LL, U11, 2011-2012 (Goderich Minor Hockey)

  December 29,2011We had scary driving conditions to Zurich for our tourney, but our hockey games turned out to be even scarier. We had a close 1st game against Zurich, losing  2-1 Tyler Hulley got our lone goal.  Goalie Tom Kerr kept us in this one.  The 2nd game against South Huron  was a real blowout, losing that one 5-0

December 5, 2011      This will be the shortest article I hope will ever be written this year. There aren’t enough excuses for why we lost 6-0. Truth is we weren’t on our game. We met a team that was ready to play, in a game that we weren’t ready to play seriously. Let’s just suck it up, shake it off, learn from our mistakes, and hope that we’re more focused when we meet them again on December 17th.

    December 3, 2011             WE’RE ON FIRE NOW (2 wins in a row)!!!      Seriously though, the team is starting to gel as a team. Personally I think that last week’s win certainly raised confidence levels enough to let this team know that they are capable of winning and they did. Now they know it for sure. We are going to meet those teams that beat us before, and they won’t be ready for the new and improved Goderich Atom LL Machine. If we keep playing like we did in this game, we can look forward to a number of more wins in our near and continued future.

November 26, 2011                  Monkton fought hard but we fought harder in this 4-3 win for us. We overcame some team illnesses and ice conditions that were soft to the point of the puck barely being able to slide. If anyone had been keeping track of the shots on net they would have seen that we deserved to win this game. Tyler Hulley played an amazing 3 point game even though playing with a bad hand, Graham Roth had more breakaways than you could count, and Erin Hastie stood out by seeming to be everywhere; stopping rushes and making great defensive plays.

November 19, 2011             We found our groove too late in the game but showed Mitchell that we are not going down without a fight. Even though plagued by injury and illness we still managed a decent showing. Tyler Hulley was out with an injury and was missed by the team. Adrien Arbour opened our scoring in the first period, assisted by Rory MacLennan, and Hunter Mclean. Graham Roth then scored one at the buzzer, assisted by Sam Hartin to finish out the first period with a respectable 4-2.
