Several players were missing this Saturday and the effects on the outcome of the game showed it as we suffered another disappointing 7-1 loss to Milverton. The team showed good effort and once again started strong by holding them to a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period. Tyler Hulley scored our lone goal, played well by having several other scoring chances, and once sacrificed his body to block a shot. After the fist period our lack of substitutes denied our players an opportunity for some much needed rest and the final score reflects that.
Michael Blok played his fist full game in net and had a respectable showing despite the score by stopping several 3 on 0, and 3 on 1 rushes that could have made the final score brutal. He was unfortunately handcuffed by a few quick one-timers. Notable plays were made by Adrian Arbour hitting the post, and several other players having scoring chances that might have narrowed the gap. Erin Hastie and Jamie Pritchard seem to play well together as a unit regardless of what positions they are playing. By far our biggest problem was the number of penalties that we took (some stupid and well deserved, and others being borderline questionable in the eyes of the fans) leaving our team short handed for far too much of the game. We should’ve been able to beat this team.
