BCH Hands Sailors Another Loss
On March 2, 2013, the Goderich Atom LL2 Sailors faced-off against the BCH Icedogs at the Goderich Memorial Arena.  The Sailors, following their goalie Oster, entered the game with nothing to lose and played loose and relaxed the entire game.  The game was full of end-to-end action with all players getting involved.

The first period was a presentation of speed by both teams.  Forwards such as Shanahan, Paola, Gilliam, and Austin all had strong opportunities to open the scoring but the BCH goalie stood tall.  In return, Oster matched the BCH goalie save for save until 1:25 minutes were left in the first when BCH #2 potted their first goal.

Luckily for the Sailors they bounced back early in the second period when Roth found Hartin getting loose from the crowd.  One quick pass and Hartin sprinted down the left wing firing the puck top-shelf right beside the peanut butter.  And then just 1:05 later Roth found himself all alone and snuck the puck behind the BCH goalie to give the Sailors a 2-1 lead.

Unfortunately the lead did not last long and with a 1:57 left in the second period the Icedogs tied the game up setting the stage for a very exciting third and final period.

Both teams had their chances to put the game away early in the third period but both goalies fought their way through traffic to get to the loose pucks.  Bell was a thorn in the BCH goalie's side all afternoon and he continued to pressure the net-minder in front of the net in the third.  All four defensemen (Knox, Rau, Hartin, and Menchenton) took their turns rushing the puck up the ice but each time their attack was extinguished.

Half way through the third period the Sailors found them on the short end of the stick down by 2 goals when Stinson hopped on a loose puck, drove the net and potted his first of the game.  With the Sailors hopes lifted, coach Bell pulled the goalie for the extra attacker but the Sailors just couldn't find the back of the net and the game ended 4-3 for BCH.

A disappointing finish to a very exciting game!
