Sailors Lose to Stars 5-1
On March 1, 2013, the Goderich Sailors Atom LL2 team faced the Stars in Seaforth. For the first five minutes of the game the Sailors were able to match and hold off the high powered attack of the Seaforth Stars but the pressure just kept coming and by the end of the first period the score was 2-0 Seaforth.
The Sailors answered back early in the second period when Gilliam scored after receiving a nice pass from Stinson. But the momentum was short lived and Seaforth pounced on a loose puck and knotted their third goal of the game ending the second period at 3-1.
The third period was a hard fought battle and the Sailors had their chances. Knox, Menchenton, and Hartin all chipped in on the offense with some nice rushes but the Seaforth goalie was able to match them every time.
When the time ran out the Sailors had to settle with a 5-1 loss but the coaches were satisfied with an improved outcome on the scoreboard.
