Scoring a Home Victory Over the Ironmen
On January 14, 2013, the Goderich Sailors AtomLL2 were firing on all cylinders scoring a victory over the Wingham Ironmen. As usual, the Sailors started slow out of the gate and relied heavily on their goaltender Oster to keep them in the game.
Oster made save after save while waiting for his team to get their skates under them. After the first period was over Wingham had the momentum and a lead on the scoreboard. The score was 1-0 Ironmen to start the second and Wingham continued to carry the play pushing the score to 2-0. Finally, just over two minutes into the second period the Sailors came to life scoring four goals in 8:39. Goderich continued to hammer on the iron of the Wingham team during the third period potting five more goals. Gillam had a big night with 3 goals and 3 assists. Roth scored 3 goals and adding 1 assist. Hartin had 2 goals and Stinson added a goal and an assist. Other players tabulating assists included: Austin (2), Rau (2), Paola (1), Menchenton (1), and Shanahan (1).
