Hockey Day in Goderich
On January 12, 2013 the Goderich Sailors Atom LL2 hosted the BCH LL1 in an exhibition game at the Maitland Recreation Centre. Throughout the first period the team as a whole played well. Oster, as usual, made more than a few big saves and the forwards pressed the puck deep in the BCH end. The defense attacked the puck quickly and limited the odd man rushes. All of these attributes allowed the LL2 to set up a strong second period.
During the second period the Sailors scored 3 goals. The first was scored by Gillam unassisted. The second was scored by Roth assisted by Paola and Stinson. The third goal was scored by Paola assisted by Hartin and Austin. The third period started off with a bad coaching change by Rau as he eagerly called the defense for a change which turned into a 3 on 0. Oster bailed out his coach on the first shot and the rebound by due to the confusion the Sailors were unable to clear the zone and the puck landed in the back of the net (sorry Oster). But more scoring was sure to follow and follow it did. The Sailors regained control of the game by firing 5 more goals passed the BCH net-minder. Goals were scored by Roth, his second of the game, Hartin (1), Shanahan (1), and Stinson (2). The following players assisted on goals throughout the game: Paola (1), Stinson (2), Hartin (2), Austin (3), and Bell (1).
