Sailors Frustrate Mad Dogs with Shut-out
Submitted By sdoherty on Sun 01 10, 16
The PeeWee Scotiabank LL2 shut-out the Minto Mad Dogs with a 4-0 win at the Harriston Arena Saturday afternoon.  Atom player Keon P made his first appearance in net for the PeeWee Scotiabank LL2 and he stood on his head.  Keon and Grayson O split the game in goal and shared the shut-out – great game by both net-minders.  Keon P’s play earned him Player of the Game.  We should give Keon a shout out for helping the team all season in practice – he has been a great asset!

Minto’s net-minder played a solid game as well and managed to keep the Sailors off the scoreboard for the first period.  However, Jack L broke in on net on a feed from Daerien R and scored the game opener within the first fifteen seconds of the second period.  The Sailors scored again a minute-and-a-half later when Jensen P drained a beauty after a perfect pass from Joey C.  From there the Sailors continued to control the second period which ended with Goderich up 3-0 on a nice goal scored by Spencer W (assisted by Jensen P).

The Mad Dogs bared their teeth a bit in the third as they came out strong and had the Sailors off their game.  However, a Sailor penalty midway through the third gave them the urgency they needed to kick into another gear.  The Sailors dominated on the penalty kill and Jack L scored a short-handed goal on a full-tilt breakaway that put the game out of reach for Minto.  Great game Sailors – another solid outing.
