Sailors Fend Off Wolves with 6-0 Win
The PeeWee Scotiabank LL2 won their 9th regular
season game in a row on Friday evening at the Maitland Recreation Centre when
they defeated the Ripley Wolves 6-0. Sailor’s
forward Spencer W managed to find the back of the net within the first two minutes
of the game (assists to Joey C and Caden B).
After that the Sailors seem to slow down and appeared a little sluggish
for the remainder of the first period.
However, the Sailors came out flying in the second and played more of their typical style. Passing well and remaining defensively responsible, the Sailors scored four goals in a high energy second period. Second period goals were scored by Remi W (assisted by Joey C), Jack L (assists to Remi W and Daerien R), Jensen P (assisted by Joey C and Liam D) and a Joey C who scored on an individual effort right after winning the face-off in the Wolves’ end.
The third period saw the Sailors change gears as they moved into a more defensive style. Daerien R scored Goderich’s last goal of the game early in the third (assist to Jack L and Joey C) after which time the Sailors were forced to play defense. Goderich managed to kill off three third period penalties including a full minute of five-on-three. The Sailor's strong defensive effort kept the Wolves at bay and helped Grayson O achieve a well-deserved shut-out.
I should also give a shout-out to Joey C who had a five-point night!
