Goderich Storms out Early and Steals Zurich’s Thunder
Submitted By sdoherty on Sat 12 12, 15
The PeeWee Scotiabank LL2 stormed out early and rained down five goals in the first period en route to their 8-1 victory over the Zurich Thunder at the Maitland Recreation Centre.  Joey C scored the first goal within the first 20 seconds of the game (assisted by Remi W) and from there the Sailors played a strong first period with a lot of good passing and heads-up plays.

Remi W scored twice in the first (two of his goals were assisted by Captain Jack with additional assists going to Aidan A and Cole W).  Aidan A also netted a nice goal on a strong individual effort and Joey C got the final Goderich goal of the opening period with assists going to Jensen P and Liam D.  Zurich managed to get on the board with only 50 seconds left in the opening period to nullify the chance of a Sailor’s shut-out.

Unfortunately, the Sailors began to stray from their winning formula early in the second period as the players stopped passing.  Goderich looked like they would be held to only one goal in the last two periods of the game (Daerien R scored the only goal of the second-period with assists going to Spencer W and Aidan D) but they managed to find the net twice more in the final 15 seconds of the game on goals by Captain Jack (assist to Joey C) and Remi W (assisted by Spencer W).   This victory is the 8th consecutive regular season win for the Sailors. Keep playing hard Sailors!
