The PeeWee Kinsmen LL1 rack up a pair of wins.
In the first game, Goderich hosted the Mitchell Meteors at the Memorial Arena
Sunday November 22. The game started out a close match with lots of back and
forth action, the defence doing a good job at both ends of the ice keeping
either team from generating many scoring opportunities.
Owen scored the only goal of the 1st two periods late in the 1st picking up a rebound from Nick , Eric also had the assist for getting things started. Both teams successfully defended 5 on 3 at times with a tirade of minor penalties late in the 2nd period. Starting the 3rd period 1-0 Luke, Alex and Kaden digging at the net made it 2-0, Kaden getting the goal with assists to both Luke and Alex. About the 10 min mark Luke found the mesh with a pass up from Owen. The Sailors now gained momentum and the Meteors lost their edge. Owen made it 4-0 stealing the puck a minute later. Eric skating it in around the Meteor defence made it 5-0 Sailors with a nice pass up from Wade at the 6:47 mark. The strong Mitchell team fought back crashing the Goderich net and it was 5-1. Theron got a good pass up to Nick who skated it in for the final Sailor Goal at 5:38. Mitchell with a fast solo skating effort put one in the net late in the game for the final Score, 6-2 Sailors.
Monday night the Sailors traveled to Moncton to play the Central Perth Wildcats. After the drive or perhaps the end of a long school day, the Sailors came out a bit less than sharp. The Wildcats controlled the puck through much of the 1st but the Sailors did manage to keep them from making many good scoring opportunities. Nick scored at 6:27 with a nice assist from Mathew. The Sailors kicked it up in the 2nd back to playing there "A" game but the Wildcats would hold them off until 7:20 of the long 15 minute 2nd period when Nick got his 2nd of a four goal night, assists to Kaden and Alex. The Sailors had their usual momentum again and Eric put in two nice goals in a row. Owen had both assists with good passes across the net and up from the blue line . Nick with Eric's help closed out the 2nd with 10 seconds on the clock taking the Sailors into the 3rd with a commanding 5-1 lead. Wade skating from end to end scored at 10:49 of the 3rd. Nick put that 4th puck in the net at 2:11 final score 7-1 Sailors.
