The Goderich Sailors Zehrs Markets Atom team travelled to Blyth to take on the first place and undefeated (15-0-1) Blyth-Brussels Crusaders Burgundy team Monday night in their first meeting of the season.

Goderich quickly found out why this team is so good as the Crusaders would score goals a minute into the opening period, another with four minutes left in the period and a third with a minute and a half remaining in the period.

With Goderich finding themselves down 3-0 after the first period, things were looking rough for the team.  From the beginning of the second period to the end of the third, Goderich would end up proving themselves as worthy foes for Blyth-Brussels as they would only allow one more goal, which came with three minutes left in the second period and even answered back with a goal of their own with five minutes left in the game as the birthday-boy skated end to end and fired a hard wrist shot over the goalies shoulder top shelf that not many would be able to stop.

The Sailors yet again showed the league that they are a team who will not ever back down from any competition and are not a team to be taken lightly.  The Sailors played a team who has steam-rolled their competition all season long, winning blow-out games handily and gave them one of their closest games of the season.  Goderich skated the final two periods of this contest to a one goal a piece finish, which is a very commendable feat.  The Sailors worked hard at both ends of the ice in this game and can definitely hold their heads high.

The next game for the Sailors is Friday night as they host the BCH Icedogs in an exhibition game at the Maitland Rec Center at 7:15, they then travel to Hensall Sunday for an afternoon regular season matchup with the same BCH team.  Good luck this weekend!
