Lions Peewee Rep finding their firepower in WOAA playoffs
On January 11th as part of Hockey Day in Goderich the team started off its WOAA playoff round robin. We hosted Arran-Elderslie in a strong battle in one of our best games of the season. We fell short 2-1.
February 8th we hosted Walkerton and the boys came out flying. Carter assisted by Kyle started out the scoring with 2 minutes left in the first to put us up by 1. The Sailors continued to apply pressure scoring 2 more goals in the second period. Tyler scored both. The first was unassisted and the other assisted by Kyle. In the 3rd period the Sailors came out hungry for the win and Caden scored his first goal of the season assisted by Mark. Our final goal of the game was scored by James assisted by Kyle and Ethan B. 5-0 Sailors. Bryson earned his first win of the season and the shut out.
February 11th coming off our big win against Walkerton the boys came out full of confidence and hungry for another win. The first period was an exciting game full of back and forth action with neither team being able to get one past the netminders. David assisted by Ethan B and Dmitri got us on the board early in the 2nd and minutes later Dmitri assisted by David and Ethan B strengthened the lead to 2. With only a minute left in the 2nd James assisted by Justin and Tyler helped take a commanding lead going into the 3rd.
Third period the boys came out to win and scored 3 more goals in the first 5 minutes to ensure the win. Justin assisted by Tyler and Carter. Carter unassisted and Carter scored his 2nd of the game assisted by Tyler and Mark. Jacob played outstanding between the pipes and almost earned the shut out but Wingham sneaked one in late in the 3rd for a final 6-1 win for the Sailors.
