Round One of OMHA Playoffs
On January 23, 2014, the Goderich Sailors faced the BCH Icedogs in round one of the OMHA Playoffs. Goderich led the way early firing 8 shots at the BCH goalie in the first period but the BCH net-minder was up to the challenge and stopped all 8 shots. BCH struggled early to get their game going only managing 2 shots in the first period.
The Sailors continued to struggle to find goals in the second frame. Both Wade and Eli had break-aways stopped by the BCH goalie which added to the team's frustration. To top it off the BCH Icedogs were able to find the back of the Sailors net even after being out played.
In the third things went from bad to worse for the Sailors. The puck seemed to have eyes and would travel around, over and through anyone and everything and only stopping when it found the back of the Sailors net. The Icedogs scored 4 goals in the third period. Puck luck was not on the Sailors side for sure.
Both Eli and Joey scored goals for the Sailors but these two goals were not enough to stop the Icedogs on this night. Sailors hope for better luck heading into game two tonight in Clinton at 5:30.
