Milverton Takes Game Two
On Saturday, March 22, 2014, the Goderich Sailors took to the road to play game 2 of their WOAA Neilson Championship series against the Milverton Drives.
Milverton, already down one game in the series, came ready to play and the Sailors struggled to match Milverton's intensity and speed. Milverton struck first scoring just 43 seconds into the game. But the Sailors didn't roll over and die they clawed back into the game late in the second period.
With just 48 seconds left to play in the second, Eli pounced on a loose puck and sprinted down the ice and scored while short-handed. This tied the game up heading into the third.
In the third period, Milverton were able to keep out of the penalty box while the Sailors struggled accumulating 4:00 minutes in penalties. This stalled the Sailors' attack. Milverton struck for their second goal leaving the Goderich team just 7:44 minutes to reply. With just 1:39 seconds left to play in the game, the Sailors were disciplined with their second penalty of the game and they were not able to complete the come back.
