Sailors Stay Perfect heading into Neilson Championship Series
On March 9, 2014, The Goderich Sailors headed to Ayton to finish off their Round Robin playoff series against West Grey. With several players "resting" in warmer parts of the world the rest of the boys had plenty of ice time to practise their skills heading into the Championship Series against Milverton.
The Sailors started the game with only nine skaters but it didn't take long, 2:10, for Jack to put Goderich on the board first. Just 44 seconds later Joey potted a goal on a nice feed from Eli and the Sailors were up 2-0. Then with only 50 seconds remaining in the first Keegan sprung Eli loose and he scored his first goal of the game making it 3-0 after the first period.
In the second period, it didn't take Jack long to score his second goal of the game when Eli dug the puck out of the corner and found Jack standing all by himself at the far side of the net to make it 4-0 Sailors. In the third period Eli received a pass from Joey and Jack and he scored his second goal of the game to make the final 5-0.
Eric and Ben shared the final game of the playoffs combining for 14 saves and to help keep the Sailors perfect heading into the Championship Series against Milverton.
