Sailors Strike First
The Goderich Sailors hosted the Milverton Drives on Thursday night in the Game one WOAA Neilson Championship series. Goderich fans were more than a little nervous when a fast skating Milverton team struck early for two goals.
But as the first period was winding down, Keegan passed the puck up the boards to Kaleb who fed Eli who scored Goderich's first goal of the game. From then on Goderich handled the fast skating team from Milverton and began to work hard to put the game on ice.
Goderich struck again early in the second period when Jacob scored a goal assisted by Joey and Jack and the Sailors were tied 1-1. Then three minutes later Evan scored with help from Jacob and Eric and by the end of the second period the Sailors were up 3-1.
The third period witnessed both teams pressuring the puck but it was Goderich who scored. Wade passed the puck up the boards to Evan who fired the puck on net and Eli was there to bang in the rebound. The Sailors ended up winning the game 4-2 to take game one in a three game series against Milverton.
