Silver Stick Continued...
On Saturday the Atom AE played the final game of the Silver Stick Tournament facing-off against Plattsville.
Eli opened the scoring on a pass from Evan and Wade to make the score 1-0 with only 2:29 left in the first period. Plattsville stormed right back and scored their first goal of the game just 16 seconds later to tie the game up. Goderich responded quickly when Wade scored off the rush to put the Sailors up 2-1. Immediately following the Goderich second goal, Aidan slammed the puck behind the Plattsville goalie with only 42 second remaining in the first period (assisted by Eli and Kaleb).
Plattsville opened the scoring in the second at the 6:59 mark. But Goderich rebounded again when Wade scored on a nice pass from Jack to make it a 4-2 game. Plattsville refused to go silently and scored one more goal before the end of the second period which ended 4-3.
The third period saw the two teams fight for control of the puck. Goderich finally put the game away in the final moments of the game when Eli chipped the puck ahead to Wade who found the empty net from near center ice. Goderich was able to hold off Plattsville for their only victory of the tournament winning 5-3.
