Sailors Win!
On Saturday morning, the Atom AE team hosted the Saugeen Shores Storm and the Sailors were ready to pounce at the drop of the puck. This was Eric's first game back after coming off the injured reserve list and he made his presence felt in the first period when he head-manned the puck to Aidan who made a nice past to Eli who beat the Storm goalie on the first shift of the game.
Jacob made it 2-0 when he finished off a play started by Aidan and Wade. Not to be out done by his fellow forwards, Jack found the back of the net while finishing off a play started by Jacob and Kaleb. Three unanswered goals put the Sailors in front early and set the stage for the second period.
In the second period, Saugeen caught the Sailors flat footed and scored the only goal with 9:13 left to play. The Sailors struck back early when Wade trapped a loose puck on the side boards in his own end and quickly passed the puck up to Eli who broke away from the storm players. Eli scored his second goal of the game and restored the Sailors 3 goal lead. Two minutes later, Kaden added his name to the score sheet when Jacob received a pass from Keegan behind the Storm's net and found Kaden wide open in front. Kaden made no mistake blasting the puck past the Storm goalie.
The Sailors made quick work of the Storm team with their combined speed, accurate passing and outstanding goaltending by Ben and Eric. With the team welcoming Eric back from injury and the team whole again, they are greatly anticipating their next match against BCH Sunday afternoon.
