Sailors Play Exciting Action Packed Game
On Thursday night the Sailors played the BCH Icedogs. The first period saw each team take offensive chances with both goalies coming up with some great saves. But it wasn't too long before Eli found his opportunity to fire one by the BCH goalie. Sparked by Eli's first goal, Aidan took a sweet pass from Jensen and fired the puck by the BCH goalie with only 41.3 second left in the first period. The Sailors finished off the first period with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The second period was owned by BCH. Despite some great saves from Sailor's goalie, Eric, the Icedogs squeezed two pucks by him to tie the game up heading into the third period. Eric played a solid game stopping 12 of 17 shots, many of which were in close.
The final period of the game was intense on the ice and in the stands. The Sailors struck early in the third period when Kaleb scored at 13:56 (assisted by Joey and Evan). The Sailors struck again quickly when Eli scored at the 12:40 (assisted by Keegan and Jensen). With a comfortable 4-2 lead the Sailors let the peddle slip off the metal which allowed the Icedogs just enough time and space to attempt a comeback.
After Eli scored, BCH began the long road back and responded at 12:02, scoring their third goal, and scored again at 8:42. With the game tied and only minutes left to play the Icedogs pressed the Sailors and were finally rewarded with the go-ahead goal with only 3:07 left to play in the game. The Sailors pulled their goalie and threw everything they had at the Icedogs but it wasn't meant to be. The Sailors fell just short of their rivals to the south by a score of 5-4.
