PeeWee Rep chance for SS title ends at semi-finals
The Goderich Lions Club PeeWee Rep team competed in the Kincardine Regional Silver Stick Tournament from Dec 27th to Dec 29th, 2007.

The boys played 4 solid games and their bid for the title was stopped by their Hwy 21 rivals from the north, the Kincardine Flyers.

The first game saw Goderich matched up against Mount Forest.  The game started off slow but the boys soon picked up the pace and went on to defeat Mount Forest 7-1.

Their first game on Friday was an 8:00am game vs the hometown team, Kincardine.  They boys were still sleeping and went on to be defeated 3-0.

Their second game on Friday saw them up against the Hanover Falcons.  The boys needed the win and easily defeated Hanover 6-1.

At the end of round robin play, Goderich had 4 points and were +8 which was good enough to advance into the semi-final round.

The semi-final matchup was Goderich vs guess who... the Kincardine Flyers.  The boys were pumped at the chance to avenge their loss in round robin play and came out flying.  The game was fast paced with a lot of end to end action.
Kincardine scored first to end the first period 1-0 for them.  Goderich came back and dominated the second period and managed to tie the game when Chase Duckworth put one past the Kincardine netminder.  Assists went to Billy Higgs and Brandon Johnston.  Goderich dominated the third period but neither team was able to score again and at the end of regulation time, the game was tied 1-1.

The game went to a 5 minute sudden death OT period.  The intensity was high and the netminders were definitely blocking everything that came their way and the OT period ended 1-1.  A second 5 minute sudden death OT period was played, but this time "4 on 4".  Again the five minutes went by with both teams intent on scoring but the netminders were playing the games of their lives.  The second OT period ended 1-1.

The intensity in the building was high awaiting what would come next, a shootout.

Kincardine went first and scored.   Goderich then attempted to tie the game when Chase Duckworth made a great "Chase Duckworth move" and had the goalie deked but the puck hit the post.  Kincardine was up next and scored again.  It was Goderich's turn again and Brandon Johnston skated hard down the ice and put the puck top shelf.  It was 3-2.  Kincardine had their third chance and Jason Huber, Goderich's goalie shut him down.  The game was 3-2 and it was Goderich's turn again.  Jeff Gordon headed down the ice and made a nice move however the Kincardine goalie was determined to end the two hour game and stopped it.  The game was over.  Goderich had lost a great game 3-2.

The team had a good showing at the tournament and look forward to starting playoffs which start early in January.

Way to play boys, you make us proud, each and every game.
