Lions Club PeeWee Reps tied in playoff series 2-2 with Listowel.
The second round of WOAA playoffs has proven to be an exciting one for the Goderich Lions Club PeeWee Rep team as they face off against the Listowel Cyclones.  The PeeWee Rep Sailors were down 2 losses but have managed to come back and tie the series at 2 games a piece.  The winner of this series will move on to the finals of the WOAA to play the winner of the Kincardine/Mitchell series.

The first game was played Friday Jan 25th at the MRC.  Goderich came out on the short end of the stick with a 3-2 loss.  Scoring both goals for Goderich was Chace Duckworth.

The series then moved back to Listowel for Game #2 on Sunday Jan 27th.  This game was intense with Goderich scoring first when Chace Duckworth rushed in on the Listowel netminder and hammered the puck to the back of the net.  Assists on this goal went to DJ Stevenson and Brandon Johnston.  This lead was short-lived when Listowel would tie it up before the end of the 1st period. The second period saw Listowel continue to apply the pressure and would take the lead 2-1, midway through.  However it was Goderich that would answer back before the end of the second period when Brandon Johnston did a "wrap around" and tucked the puck into the corner of the net to tie things up.  The third period saw both teams held scoreless and at the end of regulation time it was 2-2.    Most of the OT period was a back and forth game of chances however both netminders stood on their heads.  It wasn't until there was 3 minutes left in the OT that Listowel would find themselves in our end surrounding our goalie and with a nice behind the net feed would score to win the game 3-2.

Goderich was down 4 points to 0 heading into Game #3. The third game  came back to Goderich on Friday Feb 1st.  Coach Kelly decided to make some changes to some of the lines to try and create some new chemistry.  This theory seemed to prove very well for Goderich as they won the game 6-3 over Listowel to launch their comeback.  The Sailors seemed to dominate the game against Listowel and at one point in the second period were ahead 4-1.  Listowel never gave up and came back to bring the game within one goal  however the Sailors were determined to win this game and scored two more times to make the final score 6-3 for Goderich.   Scoring for Goderich was Chace Duckworth (2), DJ Stevenson (2), Andrew Avis (1) and Trevor Lockie (1).  The team saw some great offensive and great defensive work from all its members and goalie Jason Huber was impressive between the pipes for Goderich.

Game #4 was played Sun Feb 3th in Listowel.  Goderich was victorious in this game 1-0 despite numerous controversial calls against our team.  The lone goal of the game was scored in the first two minutes of the game when Brandon Johnston fed the puck to Carson Lamb who was on his knees in front of the net.  Carson somehow got his stick on the puck and slid it across to Zack Horton who was wide open and put the puck top shelf past the Listowel goaltender.  Goderich would play most of this game short handed and were completely exhausted however they proved to everyone they were determined to win and would hold on to the victory to bring Game #5 back to Goderich.  All of the Sailors played fantastic throughout the game but the #1 star of this game was Jason Huber.  Way to go everyone.

Game #5 will be played Friday Feb 8th at 6:30pm at the MRC.  The Goderich Lions Club PeeWee Rep team would like to see huge fan support for this game in their bid to advance to the final round of the WOAA playoffs.  Please come out and support the PeeWee Rep Sailors as they take on Listowel in the 5th and deciding game of the series.
