Sailors Pound Mad Dogs 3-0
The PeeWee Kinsmen LL defeated the Minto Mad Dogs handily at the
Memorial arena this afternoon. The Sailors managed a goal per period starting
with Jayden M’s goal mid-way through the first (assist to Kate J and Noah
J). In the second period the Sailors
dangled deftly around the Minto players and created many good scoring
chances. They were rewarded with 4:30
left in the second when Sawyer N made a beauty pass to an open Hudson V who was
standing on the doorstep with his stick on the ice and potted a nice little
tap-in – great goal you two!
By the third period it was obvious that the Sailor’s dominance was responsible for putting the “Mad” in the Mad Dogs. The frustrated Dogs began baring their teeth and their physical play increased with a lot of hard fought battles for the puck. However, the Sailors held their own on the physical front and in the closing minutes of third Nolan W scored a nice goal off a rebound from Caden B’s shot.
This was a good win for the Sailors who scored some nice goals, played responsible defense and enjoyed solid goaltending. It was also a good to see our players show some poise – they didn’t back down when the game got physical but they also didn’t get sucked into taking a lot of stupid penalties. Nice win Sailors!
