Sailors Lose Close One in Wingham Winter Wonderland
The PeeWee Kinsmen LL lost a close game 5-4 against the Wingham Ironmen at the Westcast arena on Thursday night.  The Sailors started off strong scoring three first period goals.  Captain Adam R got the Sailors on the board a couple of minutes into the game with a ridiculous slap shot (assisted by Noah J).  Not to be out-done, the Ironmen upped their effort level and tied the game three minutes later.  However, the Sailors continued their strong play and eventually re-gained momentum when Noah J drove hard to the net and scored (unassisted) while crashing through the crease. From there, the Sailors dominated the remainder of the period which ended on Adam R’s second goal of the game that put the Sailors up 3-1 heading into the second period.

Unfortunately, the second period belonged to the Ironmen who scored two unanswered goals and the game went into the third tied 3-3. After a short on-ice break the Ironmen picked up where they left off scoring the go-ahead goal five minutes into the third.  Not giving up - the Sailors battled back and Sawyer N managed to bank in the tying goal off the leg of an Ironman defender.  Nonetheless – this game would go to the Ironmen who simply outplayed the Sailors for the last half of the third scoring the game-winner at the six minute mark of the period.

All and all – this was not a bad game for the Sailors but it is a good reminder that you have to play an entire game – you can’t take any breaks because a hungrier team can always get back in the game.  Learn from this one Sailors and you should get the next one against Wingham!
