Zurich Thunder Storm over Sailors 6-1
Dec 18th - The PeeWee Kinsmen LL faced the Zurich
Thunder for the first time this season and it was a wake up call for the
Sailors. After playing a fairly solid
first period which ended in a 1-1 tie thanks to a nifty goal in the closing
minutes of the period by the Sailor’s best player of the day Nolan W (assists
to Seth D and Noah J) – the Sailors allowed the Thunder to dictate the pace of
the game for the remaining two periods and found themselves out-played by the
Thunder who demonstrated strong skating and elevated physical play.
The Thunder rained down goals on the Sailors in the second period – netting 4 unanswered scores. Although the Sailors managed to stymie the Thunder offense in the third period - limiting them to just one goal – they did not maintain enough puck control to get off any real scoring chances and ended up losing this one 6-1. The Sailors are going to have to skate hard in all three periods and pass more against the high-flying Thunder if they want a chance in a re-match against the strong Zurich squad.
