Two More Wins
A Pair of road wins over Walkerton and South Bruce put the Midget AE Sailors in first place in their WOAA division.

On Tuesday December 8th, the Sailors were in Walkerton to face the Capitals. Walkerton came into the game in last place in the division, but had shown improvement in close losses to Zurich and Drayton. The Sailors were not going to take Walkerton lightly, and wanted a fast start. The guys had their legs going, scoring 37 seconds in, and again 45 seconds after that, for a 2-0 lead in less than a minute and a half. The pace didn't slow down, the Sailors led 4-0 after the first, and 12-0 after the second in a 16-0 victory. Every Sailor to touch the ice recorded a point in the game. Goal scorers were Ryan (x3), Cole (x3), Daniel (x2), Noah N (x2), Braeden (x2), Noah C (x2), Brian and Mitchell C. Assists went to Cole (x3), Braeden (x3), Ryan (x3), Colton (x3), Brian (x2), Alex (x2), Daniel, Troy, Mitch R, Noah C, and Greg.
On Monday December 14th, they were in Teeswater to face the undefeated South Bruce Blades. This game it was South Bruce that scored early, a nice passing play gave the Blades a 1-0 lead 30 seconds in. It took the Sailors a few minutes to figure the pace out, before Andy scored on a pass from Drew. Braeden gave the Sailors a 2-1 lead, five minutes later, when he cashed in on a loose puck in the circle, and beat the Blades goalie. The Sailors held a 2-1 lead after the first period. Brian scooped up a loose puck, on the power play, and drilled a shot high to stretch the lead to 3-1 after two periods. With just under 5 minutes remaining, South Bruce won a battle along the boards and slipped one by Kyle to make it 3-2. A minute later, a Blades player took a slashing penalty, putting the Sailors back on the power play. 8 seconds in, Braeden scored to regain the two goal lead, and Noah N added an insurance marker 27 seconds after that, assisted by Noah C. The Sailors left Teeswater with a 5-2 win.
The Midget AE Sailors have a 9-1-1 record in league play, good for first in their division. The Sailors have a pair of home games this weekend, Friday at 8:45 versus Kincardine, and Saturday at 5:30 is a rematch with South Bruce. Both games take place at the Maitland Rec Centre.
