Midget AEs Open Season
On Monday October 19th the Midget AE Sailors opened their regular season, against the Drayton Defenders, at Maitland Recreation Centre.
After splitting two exhibition games, the Sailors were ready to start the season. They jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first period, on the strength of a pair of power-play goals, and extended the lead to 6-2 after two periods with a short-handed goal. The Sailors scored two more in a physical third period, to seal the 8-2 win. Goal scorers were Braeden (3), Cole (2), Alex, Colton, and Ryan. Assists went to Cole (2), Brian (2), Alex (2), Darren, Braeden, Andy, Daniel, Noah N, and Colton.
The Sailors opened the exhibition season on October 2nd, when the Zurich Thunder came to town. The Thunder came out fast and were spotted a 3-0 lead after the first. The Sailors shook off the cobwebs and battled for the remaining two periods. Thee final score was 5-4 for the visiting Thunder. Sailor goal scorers were Braeden, Alex, Darren and Noah N. Assists went to Andy, Kody, Colton, and Noah C.
On October 4th, the Midget AE Sailors traveled to Listowel to face the AE Cyclones. Due to some work commitments, the Sailors played with a short bench, but played a smart game. After a scoreless first, the Sailors scored twice in the second and once in the third for a 3-0 win. Goal scorers were Alex (2) and Braeden, with assists to Troy, Braeden and Kody. Kyle picked up the shut out in the win.
