McGee Motors Novice Reps Split Games on Opening Weekend
The McGee Motors Novice Reps opened up their 2015-16 season this past weekend with a home game against the Mitchell Meteors and then traveled to Listowel to square off against the Cyclones.

After concentrating on proper positioning in their practices leading up to the weekend it was evident the kids understood what was being asked of them as they held a strong Mitchell team to a 1-1 tie after the opening period.  The Sailors goal was scored by Duncan who snuck a quick shot past the goalie right off an end zone face off.

The second was more of the same as Mitchell continued to press the Sailors deep into their own end, firing shot after shot at Owen who made several stellar saves to keep his team in the game. The second period ended 3-1 for the visiting team.

After playing extremely well defensively and working hard, the Sailors started to tire and took some penalties that allowed the highly skilled Meteors team to put the game out of reach handing the Sailors their first regular season loss 7-1. The Hardest Working Player of the Game helmet went to Kingston for his attention to detail and hard work.

A few days later the McGee Motors Novice Reps traveled to Listowel to face the Cyclones. They came out hungry to win their first regular season game and scored early as Duncan out worked a Cyclone defender to slip a low shot past the goalie for a 1-0 lead with assists going to Cohen and Dean. The scoring continued at a feverish pace as Kingston scored on a power play after pounding a rebound past the goalie and Sawyer on a breakaway to end the opening period with a 3-0 Sailors lead.

The second was more of the same as the McGee Motors Novice Reps continued to throw pucks at the Cyclone net and it paid off as Duncan scored two more for the hat trick, Bronwyn scored tucking a rebound in and Sawyer scored his second for a 7-0 lead.

The third was more of the same as Sawyer scored his 3rd and 4th goals of the game and with the Sailors in late penalty trouble Owen made some timely saves to salvage his shutout and the Sailors rolled to a 9-0 win.

Points went to Sawyer (4g 3a), Duncan (3g 1a), Kingston (1g 1a), Bronwyn (1g), Simon (2a), and Dean, Cohen and Cody with one assist each. Hardest Working Player of the Game helmet went to Devlin who after being asked to change positions showed aggressiveness and hardwork in both ends of the ice.

This years McGee Motors Novice Reps are Owen, Cohen, Jacob, Kingston, Duncan, Connor, Simon, Dylan, Dean, Sawyer, Bronwyn, Cody and Devlin. Come out this weekend as the team hosts the Cyclones this Friday at 6pm at the Maitland Rec Centre and Sunday November 1st at 1pm against the Mount Forest Rams at the Memorial Arena.
