O'Baby What a Game!
On January 13, 2015, the Goderich Sailors Kinsmen AE's travelled to Mitchell to face-off against the Meteors in the first round of the playoffs.  The Meteors took the regular season series 2-0 and were looking to make quick work of the Boatmen in the first round.

Both teams came to play and play hard they did.  Battling for pucks on every inch of the ice, the game was tight all the way through the first period and the shots on the scoreboard reflected that with the Meteors outshooting the Sailors 4-3 in the short and fast paced first period.

In the second period, the Meteors would strike first at 13:14 to put them ahead of the Boatmen.  But Jack would have nothing to do with that as he battled hard in front of the the Meteors net while Dmitri dug the puck out of the corner and fired the puck at the Mitchell net.  Jack held his ground and stood tall while slamming the rebound into the back of the Mitchell net to tie the game at 1's.  The battle would continue between the two clubs throughout the rest of the second period until Mitchell received the break they where looking for.  Mitchell's number fourteen was rewarded with a loose puck in the Sailor's corner and it was a quick 2-1 and after a quick and accurate pass the puck found its way into the back of the Goderich net giving the Meteors a 2-1 lead heading into the third.

With the Sailors up on the shot clock (13-10) but behind by one of the score board, the Boatmen felt they could steal a win on the road heading into the final frame. And O'baby did they have their chances!  Ethan found himself on a breakaway just minutes into the third but the Meteor goalie was up to the challenge.  Once again, Jack battled in front of the Meteor's net but his shot slipped by the net.  Then Dmitri flew down the left wing and fired the puck at the top left hand corner of the net but the Mitchell goalie just got the blocker on the puck to deflect it away.  Joe was rewarded with a breakaway in the third but couldn't beat the Meteor's goalie.  Mitchell had a few of their own chances but the defensemen and Grayson held down the fort.  Both teams managed 10 shots in the final 15 minutes but the Mitchell goalie would not let the Sailors steal the show on this night.

Great game boys!

"I think the boys can definitely beat this team," stated Coach Stevenson after the game.
