Sailors Lose Game 1 to Saugeen
On February 6, 2015, the Goderich Sailors hosted the Saugeen Shores Storm in game one of their playoff series. Although the Boatmen battled with the Storm through 2 1/2 periods the Storm took game 1.
Saugeen struck first with 5:12 left to go in the first period. However, Jacob would tie the game up on a goal of his own less than a minute later. But before the period was over the Storm blew two more goals by the Sailors to take a 3-1 lead heading into the remaining 1:38 of the first. After the face-off, the puck found its way to the front of the Storm net and Aiden blasted the puck home (assisted by Joe and Remi) to cut the Storm lead to 1 heading into the second period.
The second period, witnessed both teams scoring two goals prior to heading into the third. Jacob picked up his second goal of the game thanks to Joe and Jack while a mystery player (score sheet is blank and I can't remember) scored with 9:11 left to play in the second period.
With the Sailors down by 1 goal the Storm stepped things up a notch and caught the Sailors cruising to start the third. Within the first minute of the third the Storm struck for two goals to make the score 7-4 and although Jacob would get his hat trick it was not enough on this night to beat Saugeen. Final score 11-5.
