Sailors Face Storm
On January 2, 2015, the Goderich Sailors Kinsmen AE's hosted the Saugeen Shores Storm in their fourth meeting of the season. Saugeen took the first two games from the inexperienced Sailors early on in the season. However, the Sailors stole the third game on home ice and were looking to even up the season series at the Y.
The first period witnessed the Boatmen fighting the Storm with all hands on deck. The teams battled hard in both ends of the rink. But at the end of the first the score was knotted at 0's.
The Sailors struck first in the second when Ryan took a pass from Remi and fired the puck by the Storm goalie. Then less than a minute later Ethan scored after getting set-up by Dmitri and Remi to put the Sailors ahead by two. Unfortunately for the Sailors, Saugeen unleashed their captain on the Boatmen who began to be double shifted and he struck with 5:29 left in the second to cut into the Sailor's lead making the score 2-1. Then just over a minute later, Saugeen stormed the Sailor's net and struck for their second goal evening the game at 2's. Unfortunately for the Boatmen, the Storm's captain would strike again before the second period was over giving the Storm a 3-2 advantage. But Ethan would have none of that and he tied the game up with just 49.3 seconds left in the second period with the help of Dmitri and Remi.
The Storm continued to double shift their captain in the third period which was just too much for the Sailors to handle and the Storm would strike for 4 goals in the final frame. On the bright side, Ethan was able to complete the hat trick scoring late in the third, with help from Jack, and finishing the game with a respectable 7-4 score.
The Sailors will now face the Ripley Wolves in their final regular season game.
