Meteors Send Sailors to the Showers
The PeeWee Scotiabank Sailors played host to the Mitchell Meteors Friday November 28
The boys second meeting with the Meteors perhaps showed they need to play 3 periods of hockey. The Sailors came out slow letting the Meteors control the early game, going on the board in less than a minute with the 1st goal, and another unanswered score with 4 minutes left finishing the period down 2 - 0.
The Sailor offense got into gear in the second generating many scoring opportunities but the long wrist shots and repeated digging in front of the Mitchel net just wouldn't go in. The Meteors Scored 4 times at 10:46 7:11, 3:26 and 0:14. The lone Sailor goal came from one of many good setups and scoring opportunities when Nick carried it in passing up to Joey who left it for Evan to put past the Meteor Goalie.
The Third period found the Sailors finally figuring out the Meteors, the defense shut them down and the offense started to find the net. Though the Meteors had 14 skaters to the 10 Sailors it was the Mitchell team that looked tired. Evan put another nice wrist shot in the net with a pass up from Joey after Remi swiped the puck mid ice at 3:48. The Final sailor Goal came with 26 seconds on the clock a great pass out of the corner from Joey to Nick waiting in good position to put it up and in. The Boys can play with this strong Mitchell team but need to come out for the 1st two periods the way they played in the third and in the 1st game against the Meteors earlier this season.
