Sailors Sting the Hornets
The PeeWee Scotiabank Sailors played host to the Howick Hornets Sunday November 30 at the Memorial Arena
The PeeWee Sailors had one of those nights that the net was a Puck Magnet with a lopsided win 18-3 over the hornets.
Nick's pass back to Cole on the point who took a great long shot on the net which was tipped by Kaden past the goalie put the Sailors on the Board. Both teams cleared the ice for a forwards shift change so Remi took the opportunity to skate it in and flipped it high into the Mitchell net at 5:12. Ciaran's Shot from the point at 4:26 was deflected by Jack then tipped in by Nick in what became a theme for the night. The Sailors had this pass back to the point for the shot and tip in down pat tonight. The 4th unanswered goal in the 1st was a pass from Evan to Joey who skated it in on a break and took the wrist in close to find net at 2:25.
Kaden and Jack were awarded assists but this reporter saw Nick steal the puck mid ice and skate it in unassisted for the opening goal in the second at 14:11. At 11:22 Nick's wide shot was picked up by Aiden in the corner with a great pass across to Remi on point whose long wrist shot was finding the mark repeatedly tonight. A really pretty goal saw Nick skate it in leaving a drop pass for Jack 15 feet out who took the shot for Kaden to tip in at 9:41. Evan passed to Joey deep in the Meteor Zone whose pass back to the Remi on point was snipped in with another long wrist at 8:56. Ciaran took a long shot from the point at 7:06 diverted by Nick tipped by Jack for the 9th Sailor Goal but the Goderich offense machine was only 1/2 done. Kaden grabbing the puck quick off the face off put it on Remi's stick who put another long wrist in the net for the hat trick at 5:30. At 3:04 Aiden put a great pass out from behind the net to Joey in front for number eleven. Cole got the puck to Nick who skated it from behind the Sailor blue line to the Mitchell net and put the shot up hi over the goalie at 2:10 for the hat trick his 3rd of a 4 goal night. The 2nd period finished with a great pass up from Jayden to Aiden at center ice who out skated the Meteor defence on the break and put one up hi to beat the Meteor Goalie at 1:11.
Coming out in the 3rd up 13 - 1 the Sailors made it 14 - 1 with another pretty goal Nick passing accross the net to Jack who put it in on the open side. Howick answered back quickly with a nice break away beating the Sailor offense at the blue line and defense at centre for goal at 14:12. Jayden got the pass to Joey at 9:53 for the hat trick he would be the 3rd sailor to have a 4 goal night. Nick Helped Jack get the hat trick at 7:40. These Hornets had heart and Howick kept working hard to create opportunities and on another break away scored against the Sailors at 7:12 for their 3rd goal in a game. The final two Sailor goals came at 5:08 and 3:18 the boys short handed in both cases. Nick and Joey both stole the puck then skated it in for one each and both boy's 4th goals of the night.
The Scotia Bank PeeWee Sailors are back in action this Friday December 5th Against the BCH Icedogs at the Maitland Rec Centre, come out and cheer them on.
