Defenders come to town
Saturday afternoon November 22 at the Memorial Arena The Goderich PeeWee Sailors LL Hosted the Drayton Defenders
The two teams came out and played a hard evenly matched 1st period. The Sailors created several great scoring opportunities and the defense thwarted many of the Drayton breaks but the puck just wasn't rolling for the Sailors and the Defenders finished the period ahead 3-0 in a game that was much closer than the score.
Coming out quick in the second the Sailors finally found the net with Jack putting a perfect pass across the front of the net and Aiden back handing it in on the open side at 14:38. Jack put one between the legs and under the pads of the Defender Goalie after stealing the puck in the Drayton zone at 10:40. Drayton came back with 2 goals at 8:16 and 4:43 fliping it out of their own zone past the Sailor defense to the waiting foward line deep in Sailor territory. The Sailor offense answered back with Jack getting the puck to Aiden who skated it in and put a great pass onto Remi's stick who popped it up and in.
The 3rd period was a shoot fest with Drayton having 4 break out goals at 8:30, 6:16, 6:01 and 2:30
The Sailors scored at 12:57 Remi giving the puck to Aiden with another great pass to Kayden putting it in at 12:27. With Jacks help Aiden again got the puck from the corner to Kaden in front of the net at 6:53 for the Sailor's 5th goal. The Sailors final goal came from a pass up from Jack to Remi who went for a skate and put the wrist shot past the defender goalie at 3:37.
The Sailors took the loss 9-6 but the story of this game was a terrific passing scoring game by the Sailors offense, Jack 1G 4A 5pts, Remi 2G 2A 4pts, Aiden 1G 3A 4pts and Kayden 2G 2pts.
