Back and forth with the Dogs
The PeeWee Scotiabank Sailors played host to the BCH Icedogs LL1 Friday November 14 and the Mintos Mad Dogs Sunday November 16.
The second match up of the season with the Icedogs LL1 team saw another close game with two hard playing evenly matched teams. This Game was marked by great goal tending and defense by both teams and was not the high scoring affair of the teams 1st meeting. The Icedogs went on the board with 4 minutes left in the 1st period on a break.
Coming onto the ice charged up Joey dug it out of the corner putting it out front to Nick who took the shot with Evan providing the tip in for the boys 1st score 47 seconds into the 2nd period. The icedogs went up 1-2 at 8:54. The 4 8 12 line responded again at 5:16 this time Evan digging it out of the corner to Joey behind the net who passed it out front to Nick Waiting in great position to flip it in making it 2-2. The Sailors got the go ahead goal when Remi picked up the puck mid ice and went for a skate putting the wrist shot past the goalie at 3:55.
The Icedogs Came out in the 3rd period tying it up at 3 early in the period and getting the go ahead goal at 9:26. Both Teams took some bad penalties in the 3rd but these didn't affect the scoring the defense of both teams playing well to thwart the power plays. Final score was a narrow loss against the Sailors 3-4
The second game of the weekend saw the Sailors against the Mintos Mad Dogs. These Dogs seemed to have the sailors defense figured out. They put 3 goals on the board in the 1st before Aiden's pass put the puck onto Kaden's stick who put it by the Minto's goalie at 5:39. back and forth Mintos Scored at 3:23 and Nick put in a late goal at 0:25 with an assist from Remi finishing the period 2-4 for the Dogs
The 2nd period saw 4 more Mintos players find the net with the lone Sailor goal of the period coming late at 1:39 with Remi's long wrist shot unassisted. The Mad Dogs led 3-8.
The Mad Dogs scored 6 times in the 3rd but the Sailor's offense finally got into gear with Nick scoring unassisted at 12:38 and 6:16. Remi finished the 3rd period with 2 more unassisted goals for the Sailors at 3:50 and 0:30. It was a double hat trick night both Remi and Nick putting 3 in the Mad Dog Net. The Boys fought back hard for the 3rd period but it was not enough and the Mad Dogs left town with a 13-7 Win.
