Halloween Heart-ache and Redemption
Halloween weekend was full of hockey for the GCCU Atom Rep team after a Friday night of trick-or treating, staying up too late, and too much candy.
It was, no doubt, the severe drop in blood glucose levels that caused the team to suffer a hard, home ice loss to Listowel on Saturday afternoon.
However, with a good night's sleep and some complex carbs, our boys came back strong to redeem themselves in Port Elgin on Sunday morning.
The boys fought an uphill battle against some hard calls and rough play around our net. After a scoreless first period, there were tense moments when they found themselves down two goals at the end of the second… but our goal tending and defence held strong and our forwards never gave up, responding with three goals in the third to take the win 3-2.
A GMHI shout-out to #16, Jacob L, for scoring two goals and to #9, Evan M, for scoring the goal that clinched the win. Assists go to #6, Mitchell H, and #15, Luke E.
