Novice Rep, U8, 2013-2014 (Goderich Minor Hockey)

The Goderich Sailors have won the McClure Division WOAA Championship for the first time ever! Not since the trophy's inception back in 1981 has a Goderich team accomplished this feat. It was a long time coming, but the McGee Motors Novice Rep team were able to defeat the Wingham Ironmen in a dramatic overtime victory that saw them snatch the victory away from the Ironmen. Trailing the Sailors by two games and facing a must-win situation, the Ironmen came determined to win the game. Their passion allowed them to score first. But Goderich worked hard to tie the game before the first period ...

The McGee Motors Novice Rep team won their second game with a come-from-behind victory over the Wingham Ironmen. After falling behind 4-1 in the first period, the Sailors fought back hard and only trailed by one goal at the end of the second. They then worked to tie the game early in the third and added two more to go up 6-4. Wingham then pulled their goalie and scored to make it 6-5, but the Sailors played good defence from thereon in, to clinch the victory! Great comeback team! Game 3 is Sunday March 23rd at 6:30pm at the MRC. See you there!

The McGee Motors Novice Rep team took the first game of their 3 out of 5 series against Wingham with a 10 -2 win over the Ironmen. With the Ironmen missing two of their key players, the Sailors skated hard and forced the play. Attention to detail on defense, solid goaltending and scoring from five different players reaped big rewards for the Sailors. Game 2 is Saturday in Wingham. Good luck team! Go Sailors Go!

The McGee Motors Novice Reps advanced to the Championship Finals with a thrilling overtime win against the Minto Mad Dogs! Despite taking a 4 -1 lead into the third period, the Sailors watched the Mad Dogs fight back and tie the game 6 - 6! Early in overtime, the Sailors found their legs and had more scoring chances, but couldn't find the net. The Mad Dogs had their opportunities as well, but the Sailors fought them off. Then at 7:55 of the overtime period, the Sailors scored to win the game! Great work Sailors! The team will now face the Wingham Ironmen, in a 3 out of 5 series. Go Sailors ...
