Fun and Close Game in Tiverton!
March 3 – Goderich
Sailors at Tiverton Thunder. After a couple of tough loses to BCH and Tiverton, the
chance to move on in the playoffs for the Sailors was just out of their
reach. So - with nothing to lose,
the coaches made a great decision to have a fun reversal of roles game. With the forward lines playing defense
and the defensive lines playing offense, the kids had a blast and actually
played a really strong game in their second match against the Tiverton Thunder! Teethal got things going for the
Sailors with a nice breakaway goal at the 7:58 mark of the first period. The Thunder then got 2 quick goals on
Goderich to make it 2-1 in their favour at the end of the period.
Connor then potted a goal on a nice shot off an assist from Adrien and Curtis. Remi made a nice pass to Connor to start him on a breakaway and land another goal to put the Sailors ahead 3-2. Unfortunately, once more the Thunder’s top score landed another 2 quick goals to go ahead 4-3 at the end of the second period. At the 9:37 mark of the third period, Connor landed his first career hat trick off a nice assist from Adrien to tie the game 4-4. Remi got the go ahead goal for the Sailors on a nice rush from the Sailors’ end zone to make it 5-4. Once again, the Thunder’s main scorer landed another goal to force an overtime - and unfortunately got his fifth goal of the game for the O-T win. Considering the rep level classification of Tiverton team, all the Sailors played an exceptionally strong game and had a lot of fun switching their roles! In a regular season game, it would have ended in a tie – which would have been a much more fitting score! Way to go kids!
