Sailors Win Their First Round
The Novice Rep Sailors have begun their WOAA playoffs with their best foot forward, sweeping their first round with two straight victories over Saugeen Shores.

Game one was played on Saturday, February 16th at the MRC.  The Sailors had a slow start in this game, with only one goal in the first two periods, coming from winger Wilder H, assisted by defenseman Keegan G.  After two periods of hockey, the Sailors were trailing 3-1, but found another gear after a good motivational pep talk from their coaches.  The boys began to play a great passing game which saw them score 4 unanswered goals in the third period.  Ethan C and Jacob L (assisted by Wilder H) both had nice goals, and Owen S had a pair, one assisted by Jacob L, the other assisted by Evan M.  Ben G again put in solid effort between the pipes to seal the victory.  The boys showed great heart and character to fight back and claim the win after a rough start.

The second game of the best-of-3 series was held on Saturday, February 23rd at Saugeen Shores Community Complex in Port Elgin.  This time our Sailors put in three good periods of hockey, and came away with a solid 5-2 victory.  Jacob L and Ethan C (assisted by goalie Ben G) both had nice goals, and Owen S added another hat trick to his record with two unassisted goals, and another assisted by Ayden H.

The Sailors eagerly await their next opponent, and their coaches are pleased to see the skills learned and character built over the course of the season coming together when it counts.  LET’S GO SAILORS!
