Sailors Go 1-2 in Exhibition Play
Our first exhibition game of the year was held on September 8 at the Maitland Rec Centre, where the Sailors found a formidable opponent in the BCH Ice Dogs.

Our kids played a tough game, and despite the fact that final cuts had not yet been determined and no practices had been held, they put in a great team effort and showed a terrific work ethic and never-give-up attitude in the 10-2 loss. Our goals were scored by Owen S and Jacob L. The effort was a good one as many players were playing in positions that are new to them. Great work boys, we are going to have a fun season!    Our second exhibition game of the season was held on September 15th inSaugeen Shores. The Novice Rep Sailors put in an impressive performance in their first game as an official team to take a 5-2 victory. Credit for the goals goes to Kaleb C with a pair, and Owen S with a hat trick, nice work boys! Congratulations to Jordan on his first victory of the year as a goaltender. Coach Bill was very impressed again with the work ethic showed by our team. Worth noting, the Sailors defensemen worked very hard to see Port Elgin getting away only a handful of shots on our netminder, Jordan, the entire game. A fantastic effort!  The Novice Rep Sailors played their third exhibition game of the year on Sunday, September 23rd at the Davidson Centre against the Kincardine Kinucks. Ben G played great in net and the rest of the sailors played a great defensive game but struggled a little getting pucks to the net. Owen S, Wilder H (assisted by Ethan C) and Keegan G had nice goals to put the Sailors on the board, but the team had to accept defeat with Kincardine scoring the 8-3 victory. Coach Bill indicated that he was happy with the defensive effort shown during this game. The team is showing good character in victory and defeat, and with regular practices to commence shortly, more good things and steady improvement are sure to come to this hard-working squad of youngsters!
