No Joy in Bayfield
November 9,2011
Wednesday’s game was a disappointing one in Bayfield. The small ice surface proved a problem for our guys to get used to. They were unable to make outlet passes, or find open ice to be able to maneuver in because each time they looked up there was a sea of white shirts. It was like trying to play in a phone booth. Couple that with the hard, aggressive, physical type of game that BCH plays and it was a recipe for disaster. The referees definitely must have left their whistles at home.
Our team began to adapt in the second half of the game and Thomas Kerr held them scoreless but the damage had already been done, and the hole too deep to recover from. It wasn’t for lack of trying as the whole team put out a good effort. Notably our defense of Tyler Hulley with Rory MacLennan, and Erin Hastie with Hunter McLean played an excellent game by keeping pucks in the BCH end, stopping rushes, and even generating some offense of their own. It’s only a matter of time until Hulley, and Mclean get on the scoreboard as they both had good opportunities. Hopefully it will be a different story when we meet them at home.
