Two Wins for Lions Peewee Rep Team
On Saturday the Lions Peewee Rep team headed down Hwy 8 to Seaforth. The Sailors would get off to a good start scoring the first goal of the game on a goal by Tyler Dickson on a nice pass from Darren Lockie. Seaforth would come back a minute later to tie the game at 1. But less than one minute into the second period Tyler Dickson would fire home his second goal of the game unassisted, not wanting to give up, the Seaforth team would score to once again tie the game. The Sailors skating very hard and playing well in both ends of the ice would again regain the lead with a goal from Tyler Johnston with the assist going to Kody Ritchie to send the game into the third period with the Sailors in the lead.

Strong goaltending from Branden Bean helped the Sailors stay in front. Five minutes into the third period the Sailors would go ahead by two goals as Mitchell Fisher found the back of the net. Great play at both ends of the ice by the Sailors would keep them ahead by two until Seaforth would score a late goal to make it a 4-3 final for the Sailors.

Then on Sunday the Sailors would skate to a 6-3 victory on home ice against Lucknow. This game saw much of the same from the Sailors as the game before, playing well at both ends of the ice and another great game by our goaltender Zach Smith. The first period saw many good chances to score for the Sailors but they could only solve the Lucknow goalie one time on a goal by Mitchell Fisher with an assist to Kody Ritchie. In the second period the Sailors got off to a great start with a blast off the stick of defenceman Cameron Brenner with the assist going to Dominic Burbine who won the face-off and managed to get the puck back to the point. The third goal for the Sailors was much the same with Burbine winning another face-off back to Mitchell Fisher who then sent the puck back to Kyle Langlois who blasted a shot to the top of the net. With just 37 seconds left on the clock a great pass from behind the Lucknow net from Dominic Burbine to Liam Armstrong would put the Sailors up 4-1 heading to the third period.  In the third the Sailors would score early to increase the lead on a goal by Nate Helesic with the assist going to Dominic Burbine. Then 6 minutes later the Sailors would score again on an unassisted goal from the hard forechecking of Darren Lockie. The Lucknow team would come back to score two more goals but it was not enough as the Sailors would skate to victory. Next weekend the Sailors Peewee Rep team will play 4 games in 5 nights with games in Goderich on Friday night at the Maitland Recreation Centre and Sunday at the Memorial Arena. The Peewee Rep team will have a donation box at the gate for these two home games with any donation you could give going towards the Christmas Bureau.   We are looking for new clothing, toys, gift cards, food, socks, gloves etc. for boys and girls from 10-13 years of age.   Any donation would be appreciated. Please come out and support the Christmas Bureau and your Goderich Lions Peewee Rep team.
