Rep Sailors Great Win Against Listowel, Nov 21
A heated match-up was expected after their previous meeting on November 8 ended in a tie. The Pee Wee Rep Sailors and the Listowel Cyclones were both hungry for a win, but the Sailors prevailed in an exciting and action-packed game.
The Sailors struck first at 5:31 of the first period when Kyle Langlois passed the puck to forward Ian Simpson, who deked out the defense to score the first goal of the game. The Sailors held the Cyclones at bay for the whole period, not allowing a single shot on their own net. Listowel tied it up in the second, but the Goderich team came on strong in the third. Simpson scored his second of the night, assisted by Kody Langlois, to put the Sailors up 2 - 1. Five minutes later, Dominic Burbine roofed a beauty to make it 3 - 1. The Cyclones had some opportunities in the third, but it was to no avail as Sailor net-minder Branden Bean made some key saves and his defensemen fiercely protected him. With 48.8 seconds left, Burbine banked his second of the game, assisted by Jarred Bakker for a final score of 4 - 1 Sailors. The Sailors are preparing for their busy weekend coming up, as they meet the Mitchell Meteors this coming Friday night, Kincardine Kinucks and the Mount Brydges Cougars in a double header Saturday, and the Walkerton Capitals on Sunday evening. These exciting games will be all be played at the Maitland Recreation Centre. Come out and cheer on your Pee Wee Reps!
