The Midget Sailorettes edged out Upper Maitland 4 goals to three in the Memorial Arena this past week. Kristin McColl opened the Goderich scoring with an assist from Rachel Sowerby. Moments later Shayla Mathers fired a good net stretcher into the Upper Maitland net on a pass from Kelsa Curran.
In the second period, Taylor Pritchard and Michelle Kelly abetted Mathers second goal. Emily Gordon earned the game winning goal late in the third period. Kelly and goaltender Jessica Yates are credited with the assists.
In Lucknow on Sunday night, the Sailorettes battled to a 1-1 tie. In a closely fought match, Kristin McColl scored the only Goderich goal.
Excellent defensive work by Jaden Mitchell and Jacqueline Martin were able to shut down the aggressive Lucknow offensive lines.
Despite the tie, the Midget Sailorettes have been undefeated in six regular season games.
