The Midget Girls Sailorettes won an impressive 5-1 victory
The Midget Girls Sailorettes won an impressive 5-1 victory over Ripley at Memorial Arena on Sunday night.
In the first period, Michelle Kelly opened the Sailorettes' scoring with an impressive shot over the Ripley goalie's shoulder. Laura Smith and Julia Huber assisted the goal. Huber with Jessica Ryan abetted Kelsey Johnston's goal seconds later.
In the second period, Laura Smith fired one into the net with help from Kristin McColl and Kelsey Johnston. Shayla Mathers scored the last Goderich goal with determined teamwork from Taylor Pritchard and Jessica Ryan.
Laura Smith rounded out the Sailorette's scoring with an assist from Kristin McColl.
Effective defensive work from Danielle Bean and Jaden Mitchell helped goaltender Jessica Yates keep Ripley to one lone goal.
