Sailorettes Play Hard in Midget Tournament
In last weekend’s St. Mary’s Midget Girls’ Tournament, the Goderich Sailorettes played an impressive three games of fast hockey moving hockey

On Friday night, the Sailorettes won a 3-1 victory over the Kitchener Lady Rangers. In the opening seconds of the game, Kelsa Curran scored Goderich’s first goal with an assist from forward Julia Huber.
 In the second period, Jacqueline Martin and Kristin McColl set up Michelle Kelly’s goal from the slot. Curran scored the final Goderich goal with help from Martin and Shayla Mathers.
 Saturday morning’s game against South Huron was a scoreless thriller as neither side could get past incredible defence work. Jessica Yates earned the shutout.
 In the final game of the tournament, the Sailorettes were edged 2-1 by St. Mary’s. After two scoreless periods, St. Mary’s was able to score twice. Kelsa Curran scored the only Goderich goal on a pass from Julia Huber.
 Coach Mike Hawkins said “this was a good weekend and the girls played amazing.”
