On February 1, 2009 the Sailors were defeated by the Storm 6-2. Scoring for the Sailors was Matthew Bean, assisted by Kyle Stanbury at 5:56 in the first period. Also scoring for the Sailors was Trent Buchanan, assisted by Carter Tomlinson at 2:55 in the second period. Kyle Prouse had a strong game in net.
On February 5, 2009 the Sailors travelled to Clinton to challenge the Ice Dogs, however came up short, losing 6-3. Unassisted, Kyle Stanbury scored for the Sailors at 4:29 in the first, with the Ice Dogs scoring 2 goals in the first period. Neither team was able to score in the second. In the third period, the Ice Dogs scored quickly with 2 goals. Travis Sloan scored for the Sailors at 10:07, assisted by Brady Gerber. However the Ice Dogs would score 2 additional goals. With 13 seconds left in the game, Stanbury netted his second goal of the evening, unassisted. Jacob Abbott had a strong game in net for the Sailors.
