Big Win for the Sailors!
January 30, 2009: Sailors defend their home tuff and come out victorious over Saugeen Shores, 8-5!
Having lost against the Storm a week ago, the Sailors were ready to show their opponent what they are made of.
In the first period, Kyle Stanbury scored, assisted by Matthew Bean and James Zolob at 7:07. Stanbury scored again, assisted again by Bean and Zolob at 3:13, leaving the Sailors up 2-0 at the end of the first.
However the Storm scored 3 unanswered goals in the second period.
Sailors came back fighting scoring 6 goals in the third period, with the Storm only scoring twice.
Brady Gerber scored his first goal of the season at 13:46, assisted by Mark Morris and Bayden Parent. Stanbury completed the hat trick, assisted by Trent Buchanan at 12:24. At 8:01 Gerber scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Bean and Parent. At 5:58 Bean scored again unassisted. Bean scored again 8 seconds later, after controlling the face off. Bean then completed the hat trick with only 12.3 seconds remaining in the game, assisted by Buchanan and Jackson Million.
Jacob Abbott played a strong game between the pipes.
Although not awarded on the game sheet Travis Sloan, Carter Tomlinson, Josh Larkin, Dwyer Brown, and Nathan Erb contributed to the strong team effort in this victory.
