Atom Sailorettes win Clarington Applefest Tournament
After a gruelling, 6-game tournament, the Mcgeemotors.ca Atom Sailorettes returned to Goderich late Sunday night as Atom "B" champions.

This was the first tournament the girls played in as a "B" team after having moved up from the "C" division earlier this month.

The girls faced opponents from all over Ontario and remained undefeated throughout the tournament.  In round robin play, the girls defeated the Kingston Ice Wolves 6-1, Georgina Golden Hawks 5-0 and the home team the Clarington Flames 6-0.

At the end of round robin play, the girls finished with 6 points and were tied with the Chatham Outlaws for 1st place.  Despite a 17 GF/1 GA score, the girls ended up 2nd in their pool behind Chatham who finished with a 10 GF/0 GA.  The girls would face Georgina again in an elimination game to decide what team would move on to the sem-final round.

The Sailorettes emerged victorious beating the Georgina Golden Hawks for a second time in the tournament, 3-0.

The Sailorettes would have to get to bed early Saturday night as they faced the Sudbury Lady Wolves at 7am on Sunday morning for the semi-finals.  The Lady Wolves gave the girls a tough game however the Sailorettes would win the game 4-2 to advance to the finals against the Chatham Outlaws.

The Sailorettes were keen to take home the gold medal and would play a fantastic final game.  The girls were all-over the Chatham team and despite a rough game, the girls would emerge as Champions defeating the Outlaws 3-0.

The girls outscored their opponents 27-3 in the tournament.  This tournament win was a total team effort from offence to defence.

In the final game, MVP went to our goalie Kaitlyn C.  KC was dominate in the tournament, stopping numerous attempts by our opponents.

The entire coaching staff is extremely proud of how the girls played as a team in their first tournament of the season.
