Atom Sailorettes Win Atom "BB" championship at Orangeville Tournament
The Mcgeemotors.ca Atom Sailorettes doused The Flames, melted The Ice Cats twice, took a bite out of The Sharks and caged The Panthers to win their 4th tournament of the season, taking the Orangeville Tigers Atom "BB" championship. This was the girl's first experience at playing BB hockey and they certainly proved to everyone, "they can do it".
In round robin play, the girls played the Vaughan Flames, the Clearview Ice Cats and the Barrie Sharks. They won 8-0, 2-0 and 2-1 respectively. This would place them 1st overall for the semi-final game where they would play the 4th place team, which turned out to be the Clearview Ice Cats. The Ice Cats are a strong team and the girls would have a fast paced, action packed battle on their hands but would come out victorious in a 1-0 win.
The final game would see them matched up against the St. Thomas Panthers, another undefeated team. The girls would take a 2-0 lead early in the game but would get into penalty trouble and the game ended up tied 2-2. The girls would regain the lead in the 3rd period and would manage to hold off the Panthers to take the win.
What a tremendous team effort from all the girls. Congratulations, we are very proud of you!
